Valerie Ashker, president of Crow’s Ear Farm, has one goal: to mount U.S. Olympic riders on exceptional Thoroughbred athletes.
Both Valerie and her daughter, Laine Ashker, have a special place in their hearts for the Thoroughbred and are huge promoters of the breed. The qualities that eventers are looking for are embodied by the Thoroughbred- athleticism, willingness, and courage. Laine and Valerie take the time to ensure that they are producing quality horses with bright futures ahead of them. These special horses place their trust in their riders and that is what sets them apart from others.
Thirteen years ago, Valerie and Laine moved from northern California to Virginia and that is where Crow’s Ear Farm, Inc. was established. While located on the east coast, Laine excelled in the eventing world, competing at Rolex CCI**** multiple times on multiple horses, representing the United States in the junior Olympics, and participating in the Hong Kong Olympic test event. Also on the east coast, Crow’s Ear Farm had their first homebred colt and Valerie competed up to Preliminary level on her own ex-racehorse.
In 2010, Valerie moved back to California which expanded her book of clientele from east coast and international to include west coast customers along with keeping her current on available horses. The new home of Crow’s Ear Farm in Georgetown, California is excellently located – situated between Southern California and Washington - and serves as a base to continue extracting fabulous prospects from the west coast race tracks.
Valerie has supplied horses for talented upper level event riders such as her own daughter Laine, Doug Payne, Becky Holder, Kristen Bond, Jocelyn Kriss, and many more. If you are in the market for an amazing athlete, please contact Crow’s Ear Farm to see how we can help.
